Got a clone built from a Screaming Mimi sitting in primer. Always thought it was a nice rocket.

Another thread got me thinking about one of my favorite old rockets. Does anyone remember the renegade?

Oh, yeah. http://www.rocketreviews.com/estes-renegade-1271-bill-eichelberger.html Mine was also Screamin' Mimi-based. Great performer, but several hard landings at VOA have left it looking less than pristine. That said, all six flights have been on an E9-6, and all were nice, slow liftoffs and nice, long burns.
I like your red better. It makes the decals stand out much better than mine.

I last saw mine heading for the horizon under Composite Dynamics E power.

I built an Estes Renegade in 1986 and I still fly it!
It's a bit worse for wear but it keeps on going!
C11, D12, E15, E30 motors. It is now my most flown rocket. :)
Latest flight was back in August.

Great kit.
About the minimum in size one can guarantee getting back using D12 power.
Most times one can get back a Cherokee-D or A20-Demon on a D12, but one can always get the Renegade back due to it's more sane altitude on a D.

The Renegade is pretty much just the lower 1/4 of a Mean Machine minus 1 fin. The fins are identical only the Renegades outside corners are rounded and they're moved a bit (.5" or so?) forward on the body tube. I have a Renegade in primer I bashed out of a MM kit I got at Hobby Lobby.

Like this, http://www.apogeerockets.com/newway_n20_demon.asp , but round.
