I had to make a parts run down to the Lowe's in McKinney this morning. Like always I turned on my favorite country music station. Calms my nerves. Then I heard a song I'd never heard before about love gone wrong. The melody was so-so but it was the lyrics that brought tears to my tired old eyes. So sad, so tender. Well shoot, you be the judge:

That song and video was falling on the floor funny. :chuckle:

That's a pretty heavy cast of characters!

Edit: I'm not a country fan so I had to look up the history of the Notorious Cherry Bombs. That explains the heavy duty cast of characters.

I have not laughed so hard in a while, thank you Tmack. So much truth and wisdom in one song. My youngest son heard me laughing. Of course he didn't get as much out of it. It's nice to be young and Naive.

I rate this

Hmm. And my ex wondered why I didn't want to mess with her. I finally told her. Big, big mistake. Ever see a volcano erupt? Once it blows, it never quite quits. Thank goodness those days are long gone. That song would be hilarious if I hadn't lived it.

Wish that song/video had been around then.

Looks like Vince Gill. Not seen him in a while, but he is a heck of a musician.

Living in TN, I recognized the faces even thought I don't listen to country. Rodney Crowell is the other main guy. The rest are Nashville session/touring musicians.

Good Gawd. The only thing worse than twangy old-school country is Rap muSICK. Both are noise pollution that should be banned. Violations should be FELONIES punishable by LONG PRISON SENTENCES OF HARD LABOR.

Come now, GH. If you're going to listen to country, twangy old-school is the only way to go. There are times when it's just what the doctor ordered. Keeping in mind that I'm an old rock, punk, new wave, anything not mainstream kinda guy. The new country music, generally speaking, doesn't do it for me and I don't listen to it. I feel the same about rap, etc.

Recently "discovered" the Aqua Velvets, The Vara-Tones and Los Straitjackets. I've been on a surf music kick here, recently. Good stuff. Summer is coming.

You have never heard Chinese opera - that stuff makes the ears bleed. The parents used to play it when I was a kid; my siblings and I would joke that it was child abuse.

Nope. No "Surfer Joe." But, I do have their classic "Wipe Out." What aspiring drummer never learned to play that solo?

Davis & White skated to this music at the recent Winter Olympics taking the Gold Medal.

If there is a more beautiful piece of music anywhere it's not on Earth.

60's through 80's rock, metal, and even some 80's punk/new wave and pop. If it is considered 'classic' rock I would probably like it with a few exceptions. That said, there is little from the Rolling Stones or the Who that I can stand. Chances are if the band/act did not exist prior to 1990, they STINK.
As far as country goes, the best is 'The Gambler' by Kenny Rogers. "Devil went down to Georgia" is a close second. Little other country/western I can tolerate.
