Not me, this year. :(

I've had a bunch of people ask if I was going to put in an appearance (Mark "snuggles" and one John Dyer, among others). It doesn't look like I'm going to make to *any* of the major meets this year.

However, I'm hoping to make it to at least the *first* part of NARAM-50 next year, if all goes well.

Not likely. Wisconsin was at the edge of my one day driving limit when there is no beach involved. ;) I wish I was, because I had a blast at the last two, but at least I can console myself with NSL and NARAM.

Really wish I could, but probably not. Might be able to make it to NARAM this year (and definatly planning on going to 50).

Not I. I only get one long trip a year and I'm saving it for NARAM. They're taking hotel reservations now

Not I, either, unfortunately. I had a great time last year.

But I'm going to try to make it to NARAM 50 next year. I'll probably have to merge it into a family vacation to Our Nation's Capital or something in order to justify it. (where "justify" = "sell the idea to my wife")

sheesh!

Well, Kathy and I will be there with a full FlisKits booth and several new kit announcements :)

Hotel reservations all set and we're looking forward to another road trip!

according to our top secret list, there's 85 people registered for NARCON.
We got lots-o- NEAT prizes to give away. I cannot reveal them here, you gotta come and see for yourself. I know what we're giving away, I'm looking at them now. Those of you that are joining us, you'll be pleased.

Yes, I'll be going to NARCON. Since its in Minnesota (where I'm originally from) I'm going to take advantage of the trip to visit my mother while I'm in the state.

Tom,

welcome to YORF, and cool screen moniker.

If you ever get down to Milwaukee, you might want to catch a show by my brother's band. I think you'll like the name......

John Dyer from Red River Rocketry from Dallas and myself from Fort Worth are teaming up for the road trip. Always good to get back to the Midwest.

Indeed. But in my case the moniker "Beaker" comes from the name of a canard boost glider that my brother and I designed back in 1978, which I've flown variatons of over the years. Most recently I built one to fly on a Vashon cold power rocket:

--TomTom,

You got any plans for that Beaker? Looks like an interesting build.

Chas,

Sorry that I'll miss you guys this year. I hope everyone has a good time!

As always, don't forget the beer. :D

Scott thoughtfully reminded us:

"As always, don't forget the beer."

Scott,

An adult, malt beverage will be consumed in your name. Sorry you can't make it.

Tom,

that is a sweet glider design! Let me add to the request for some plans.....

If it is specifically the adaption of the Beakers glider to the Vashon cold power booster that you are interested in, then I worked from the original Beakers plan (from our View From ZENITH club newsletter, circa 1978) and from the plans for the Vashon X-13:

http://www.mindspring.com/~vashon/Beakers2.gif

http://www.mindspring.com/~vashon/scans/X13plan1.html

The original Beakers 2 works great with a pop pod on 1/2A motors, and works fine as a parasite glider on the side of any moderate-to-large sized rocket. For pop pod use with A motors, I'd beef up the fuselage somewhat from the original design. The fuselage also required beefing up for use on the X-13 booster (http://www.mindspring.com/~vashon/x13.html).

If you are just interested in flying the Beakers, a more modern version of the design was published in the Nov/Dec 1990 issue of American Spacemodeling. The model placed first in Team Division at NARAM-32. The plans for the Beakers 87 can be found here:
