An old rocketry acquaintance sent me this request. Can anyone out there help him out? Just reply to this message if you have one and I'll put you in touch with him.

"I was just wondering if you or anyone you know has an original Checker
Board Pattern 24" Estes Parachute from I believe the late 1960's time
period. I believe the colors are Red and White for this chute. If so
I need a scan of the center portion so I can recreate this chute. I
already have the 12" and 18" chutes."

I think I have a small one, but not a 24".

I do have some Centuri 24" checkerboard chutes, though. :)

there was no difference. The 24" was just scaled up (or the smaller chutes were scaled down).

Is he looking for the chute with the rocket logo?

Like this 24" red and white checkerboard chute?

Here's a pic of a orange/white 24" with the space plane logo: It came with a Astron Drifter I lost back in 1968 on the 12" chute :( . I also have a red/white chute I can scan if he needs it.

Bob and Sean,

Thanks for getting back to me. I'll PM you with details on getting ahold of this person. Yes, he's looking for a scan of the logo in the center for the 24" checkerboard chute.

I redrew various Estes and Centuri chutes eons ago. I think one was the 24" chute, I'll have to look for what I have. I did have scans too - one was a *really* old logo from way back when. Let me see, I can email you what I have.

Doesn't matter, that's what they all looked like, from 8" (such as the ones in the blue blister packs), up to 24". They were simply blown up and the only thing that was changed was the stock number (PK-x).
