Good to Great news (ESTES)

I think it's time to kill the old thread Bad news (ESTES) and start posting our hopes for the new ESTES.
I think all of us in the rocket hobby, have a lot to look forward to in the future. One thing I read that makes me happy was

"We have lots of cool stuff. I like our Saturns because they are big and impressive," Ellis Langford said.

This tells me they may like scale models and maybe the Saturn family of rockets including the Saturn 1B might be re-released again with improvements to there constructions.
All and all I'm looking forward to the NEW ESTES. :D

Looking forward to this new ownership as well.
Would really like to see the K-21 Gemini Titan and both the 1/70 and 1/100 scale Saturn 1B's brought back.
AND THE B14 !!!!

Next year's the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. If they don't re-release the Saturn V, it'll be shocking.

Well, if were making a list ... 18mm 1/4a's , C5-3's and 13mm a3-6t's. thanks.

The Saturn V has had more re-releases than any other kit. Plus, Ellis Langford, the son of John, has a real thing for Saturns and scale. Here is a link to an article in the Pueblo newspaper.

Best line in article as to implied plans for Saturns and possibly other cool stuff:

“After he beefs up the staff, his next order of business is planning products to be offered during the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing next year, Ellis Langford said”

13mm B, 24mm D40, A8-5 bulk, B4-6 bulk. Real igniters since they are exempt under NA-0323 and contain only a slow burning solid NOT subject to ATF regulation per the lawsuit.

PROOF for the slow witted:

A 13 mm B would be nice. And the “starters” really are a joke. I dip mine in NC lacquer mixed with milled BP, but the average model rocketry person should not have to resort to mods like these. And you cannot just walk into Walgreens (like was possible in my town, or most gun shops, for that matter) to buy a can of BP, as you could 20 years ago.

Realistically:

What Estes SHOULD do right now is introduce products and support programs which promote the hobby. Get people INTO the hobby, and KEEP them part of the hobby. Double down on school support; particularly, encouraging formation of school clubs that make playing fields available for launches.

A 50th Anniversary Apollo Saturn V release is a no-brainer; what else could be released to celebrate the event? A LEM model with big clear fins? "Back to the moon" concept launchers?

Related to school launches:

Bulk packs of A3-4T, A8-5, and B6-4.

Bulk pack a simple 13mm powered 3FNC or 4FNC BT-50 sized kit about 14" long. Include 9" chute because kids think chutes are cool. Make a note in the instructions how to use crepe paper streamers for small fields. Yes, Fred...I said crepe cause that's how most people know the material. Fins should be trapezoid shaped similar to a Nike to avoid snapping on landing if a streamer is used.

13mm is cheaper, but the Gnome is all that's offered in bulk. Kids want something bigger than an effin Gnome. I hate that kit.

Nothing to do with the Apollo anniversary, but a nice ‘Estes Is Back’ touch might be to ship mail ordered motors in tubes, at least for a limited time...
