Posting/Replying/Editing Issues

My webhost has been putzing with security permissions on the web server the past couple of days. Due to this, members are sometimes getting a 403 Forbidden error when they go to post/reply/edit a message. We know of the problem and the webhost is working on correcting it.

I forgot to add that this is an intermittent problem for those having it. You could go away from the forum and come back a few minutes later and it'll work for you.

I did notice one instance that gave the forbidden error.

I tried to edit text for spelling in a first post of a thread that I created. I could edit any other posts in that same thread, but only in the first post it would not allow any edit of changes to text.

Not sure if these conditions are just coincidental but possibly this will help you with a resolution with your webhost knowing exactly how I got the forbidden error.

This was over a period of two days. I haven't tried today. I thought there may be the possibility some new restriction was in place (or an old restriction I just hadn't noticed) to keep a user from coming back and editing or deleting a bunch of threads they had started so I didn't report it.

Ya, it's nothing in vBulletin itself. I haven't changed any settings here. It's something to do with server permissions that the webhost has been putzing with.

My selections in User CP "Default Thread Subscription Mode" Edit Options are set for "Instant Email Notification" since day one. I've never to my knowledge had any problem getting my emailed notifications ..... that has always worked for me and I really like that feature.

This is a reply for a different thread. ;)

Yes, Instant Email Notification is what you want your subscription status set to if you want to be emailed when people reply to threads you've posted in.

Scott,

And now today it allowed the text edit in this thread:

http://www.oldrocketforum.com/showt...3180#post143180

I changed the word cone to clone and it worked fine. Maybe they have the issue fixed?

Thanks,

.

Thanks,

It's something I've had them working on, plus it's intermittent.

Forbidden? I'm married so I'm used to it. :chuckle:

I'm told the issue should now be resolved. They had to exclude some mod_security rules that were interfering with my forum.

If anyone still has an issue posting, replying or editing a message, please let me know.

Scott
