Valspar Paint
 

I was at Lowes the other and was looking at the Valspar spray paint, not too crazy about the nozzle but the can said recoat anytime Enamel. Has anyone tried these paints? I attached the thread below stating Valspar was not a good spray paint and there was issue with drying. The nozzles could be replaced with after market nozzles so that is not an issue if the paint is any good.

I have tried it, as I have just about all other rattlle-cans.
This stuff really sucks.
The reason it is a re-coat anytime enamel is due to the fact that it takes forever to dry.
The 3 cans I tried (White, Black, Red) were very thin and easy to get runs with also.
Good for painting a beat-up POS farm implement, useless for most all else.

I'm really picky about paint though.
I'm always looking for a cheaper substitute for Testor's White Enamel and Pactra AeroGloss Swift White Dope. Rust Oleum comes close. Nothing else is even acceptable in my book.

My experience is similar.

I really liked the sheen; the stuff I used had one of the best gloss finishes I've seen right out of the can, but it does indeed take days (and days) for the enamel to cure to a hard finish. The more typical 48 hours between re-coats didn't really work for the product I was using.

I particularly liked the sheen of their metallic silver; very bright. But this stuff was very sensitive to re-coating; I had used this on a nose cone and sprayed a second coat after 48 hours and the stuff kind of just went all rubbery. I ended up sanding the nose down and re-sprayed with Rustoleum Chrome.

The photo below shows the model in question; the red is the Valspar red paint, and the nose is the re-sprayed Rustoleum Chrome.

Takes a long time to dry, and the new nozzles put the spray out in a mist. I will go back to Krylon Fusion.

Hey all, I really appreciate the answers and that is what makes this forum great. Because of the feedback I am able to save money and not ruin a paint job. I was confused why it had a recoat anytime label when it is not an Lacquer, now I know. I will stick to Rustoleum Rust Stop spray paint, been having good luck so far.

The "Rust Stop" version of Rust-Oleum is the only 'big can' spray paint I have any luck with since Large spray cans of Aero Gloss Dope were Discontinued.
I still have several Large spray cans of Aero Gloss Dope in Cub Yellow, Jet Black, Curtiss Blue, Silvaire Aluminum, Swift White, and Candy Apple Red.

I did enjoy the Rustoleum at one time, but when the issues developed and I decided to go with the airbrush, I haven't looked back. It takes a bit of practice, but definitely cheaper and better control in the long run.

I prefer finishing by spraying Vintage Pactra Aero Gloss Dope from my airbrush, but it is very time consuming.
Sometimes I just don't have the time and out come the rattle cans.
For rattle-can paint, Testor's is RARELY if ever beat, but it is costly and slow drying.
