eRockets n SAM

I Emailed whom ever owns eRockets, have not heard back from him.
About if the SAM club is still available...
If so, is it for just Semroc items, or all that is on his site.
No response.
I was a SAM by default on $ per year.
He has many things I would like, but it's cheaper elsewhere.
So, what do I do?
Honor my loyality to Semroc?
Or spend elsewhere?
For non-Semroc items.
I want to see the SAM, it's like the old EAC from Estes as far as I'm concerned.
I got some great deals in the old days from Estes...
And loved the discounts from Semroc for my loyality.
What do you all say?

RocketRohde 08-17-2015 12:58 PM

The SAM club no longer exists. I'm not sure what email address you used, but Randy is usually pretty good about returning messages as long as you use the eRockets email (SEMROC email server is no longer on line). Not sure what you are finding "cheaper" elsewhere, but if it's only about the money, I'd say spend it wherever you want.

Also, I thing your poll needs a third choice, I'll buy as I please.

I used the "Contact Me" on the erockets site.
Didn't mean to offend anyone, or suggest Randy over charges.
It was ment for a comparrison.
I miss the discount!

RocketRohde 08-18-2015 01:05 PM

Oh, don't misunderstand me, I miss it too. I'm convinced that Carl really wasn't in it for the money, he just wanted everyone to enjoy.

ghrocketman 08-18-2015 03:54 PM

Totally agree with Mike; Carl & family were not in it for the money; it was obvious to me he was in it for the love of golden era rockets and those with the same taste.
His company set the GOLD STANDARD for all other hobby companies.
I see no reason to doubt that for the most part Randy is continuing his tradition.

I have no skin in this game. I was on a "model rocketry hiatus" when SAM came about. My biggest wish is that most of the great kits and parts selection continues with eRockets. I can only imagine what an undertaking it is to take over SEMROC's product line, move it, and get all the production up to speed.

Let's hope a few bucks in annual purchase savings doesn't discourage hobbyists from fully supporting eRockets. I do not believe we will ever see a company anywhere near the likes of SEMROC in terms of the breadth of product offerings, and level of customer support. (Some up and coming entrepreneur, or eRockets, make me eat my words. :) )

eRocket/Sam

Hello everyone,

Carl restarted Semroc for the love he and Bruce had for rocketry. I will have to admit, we were able to pay our bills but we did not plan any fabulous vacations. Our vacations were the NARAM's and NARCON's. We had a wonderful time seeing our old friends and meeting new ones.

Bruce just came back from Ohio (eRockets/Semroc) and he was very impressed with Randy's progress getting Semroc up and running again. There were a few things he was able to show Randy's group that they didn't know. A few tools were a mystery as to what they were used for but they had figured out most of the tools Carl had made.

Randy is making a great effort to get the products Semroc had plus plans to expand the line. I believe he wants to make it a one-stop-shopping experience which Carl had plans to do.
As for myself, I know I couldn't have left Semroc in better hands.

Thank you again everyone,
Sheryl

Sheryl,

I was looking at eRockets site, and noticed there were a lot more kits showing as "In Stock". That is great news.

Will the old website stick around? Unless eRockets moves over all the data, it is a great place to find references to body tubes, nose cones, and also the PDFs of kit instructions. I misplaced the hardcopy of the Mars Lander instructions, so I downloaded it off the old website.

You, Carl, and your family did such a great job of offering great products and amazing service to the model rocket community. It is good to hear (and see, by some of the pictures of Randy's operation), that it ended up in good hands.

Hey Lee, I can't provide a direct link, but I believe I've read several times that Randy at New Semroc has promised to keep the old site up just so all the old reference material will stay available to guys like us who find it super valuable.

Every time I made an order, then got the full SAM and NAR member discounts and saw the final total, I'd ask myself "How in the heck are these folks making enough to stay in business?" Carl and Sheryl and Bruce did, obviously, but I would've placed the same orders just the same, even if I didn't get a discount.

Well....maybe the discount did encourage me to add a few more items.... ;)

LeeR 09-16-2015 02:05 PM

Thanks Lawrence. While it might not make financial sense to keep the old site around long term, it does make sense to at least keep all the reference material over to a "Semroc Archive" section of the eRockets website.

Not taking anything for granted, I've downloaded most of the plans I'm interested in having. And I have gone back a few times and added "just 1 or 2 more".
