Estes Aim9 Sidewinder

I hope this is the correct forum.

I found an unopened Estes AIM 9 Sidewinder kit and wonder how much is it worth? It was part of a batch of these kits I bought when I was teaching a GATE fifth grade class and I wanted a rocket that could be more easily seen from the ground.

Thank you.

According to Gerry Fortin's fairly comprehensive listing, this kit has had a low of $22 and a high of $92, with a mean of $43 selling price.
Hasn't been updated in a while, but around $35 to $40 is about right if in unopened, good condition I think. I have one and it flies very well!

I built several and kept one. The school is on an Air Force base and I thought it would be neat as a science project. Mine flies very well also. In fact all the class and I built flew well except two did.

On one, the kid glued the nose cone onto the rocket tube. When the ejection charge went off, it blew out the side of the rocket and fell to earth. So much for following directions.

On the second, the ejection charge did not go off and it hit the ground at terminal velocity. I gave that student one of the extras I had built.

Thank you for the information. My wife was going to give it away as a white elephant gift for Christmas since I think we paid $9 for it, but I think I'll probably post it for sale in case a collector wants it. It is sealed.

Agree with Allen on pricing. $30-40 normally.
