Here are two kits I found in a storage box.

Which one to build...?

I guess I will just have to build both of them! ;)

Build whichever one has fin templates printed on the balsa stock. :)

The Centuri kit has die-cut fins.

The Semroc model has laser-cut fins.

Does it also have the plastic nose cone? I still have the cone but the rest is gone.

There has been much discussion in a couple of places about how precisely Semroc Retro-Repros recreated the originals recently. You have the opportunity to document it exactly with the two Centurions if the mood strikes.

Of course many of us are just delighted that Carl did what he did and gave us often improved versions of the old kits.

For me that's especially true of the Trident :D.

I added 'another' Centurion to my build pile. ;)

It's a Semroc Mini Centurion.

I like that size model and have flown my Mini Centurion quite a bit. Mine had very soft light balsa for the fins but otherwise is a lovely kit.

My Mini Centurion is built and primed. It will get painted this week.

The fin balsa on my kit was hard and dense. Good thing it was already laser-cut. :)

The Semroc Mini Centurion is getting it’s first coat of paint.

While the paint is drying, I decided to start on my next model.

Which is: An original Centuri Centurion kit.

It was with great anticipation that I opened the nearly 40 year old kit package.

The parts showed signs of their long confinement in the package.

The rubber shock cord broke when I gave it a tug (Have to replace it).

The body tubes were faded. The main tube had creases in it.

The die-cut fins fell out of the balsa. The material seems to be either 1/16th or 3/32nd balsa.
The die was somewhat dull. the fins were dried out and I had to be careful sanding them.

The plastic parachute was stuck together but did peel apart okay.

Other than replacing the shock cord I plan to use all the original parts.
