Bo-Mar Spartan upscale

I think I'm calling this one finished. 29mm powered, so the flight should be interesting. Probably best left to cornfield launches, but we're supposed to fly with ROCI in Muncie at the end of next month, so that may be a possibility as well. (Assuming the winds cooperate. They didn't last time.) Apologies for the dark pics, but I was shooting between downpours.

Nice. Were you able to get dimensions off of a kit, or did you estimate the dimensions from a picture of the Spartan in the 1969 Bomar catalog?

Yup. Faked the hell out of it. ;) I think I'm pretty close.

That's an excellent skill to have. It's taken me a long way through life. :D

Looks great.
I like it.
I had a professor back in engineering school that had the motto of "If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with BS!" on his office door.

Well it looks pretty good to me. I noticed that Bomar offered a very limited selection of parts, and if they used only those parts to make their kits, getting accurate dimensional data would be easy. It looks like almost their whole 1969 lineup was based on 9-inches of BT-20 and the same hardwood nose cone!

Bill, you did an outstanding job on that build.

John Brohm 08-17-2018 01:15 PM

Very nice build, Bill. Hope it flies as good as it looks!

There was one longer rocket in the Bo-Mar fleet. It was the only one that had dimensions, and I used that and the back cover photo as a basis for my fakery.
