I just found Quest's new Q-Jet motors on their site, which I hadn't checked for a while (it's running some sort of countdown clock: www.questaerospace.com [maybe for the availability of other, more powerful impulse class Q-Jet motors?]), and then I found this thread. While I can understand the puzzlement over "A" and "B" 18 mm composite motors, the exhaust plume options they will make possible (such as black smoke, yellow flame [from White Lightning-type propellant], etc.) will be nice for realistic effects when flown in scale models, as well as easy tracking. The black smoke (with Black Jack-type propellant) would also produce interesting "wide trail" effects in ducted rocket models (of which there are also scale subjects), and:
Regarding the "cool appearance" (as they look on display in stores) factor that was mentioned above, I heartily agree! The Q-Jet motors' labels have an "old school" look; the colors and the geometric devices (in the heraldic meaning of "device") reminds me of the 1960s and 1970s Centuri and Energet motors and catalogs (the 1960s Centuri catalogs used a similar burnt orange-and-white color combination on the pages).
