So my question is, what are the chances of this being operational out of the box? What would it take to make something like this operational? Is it possible at all?

Thanks!

Hopefully you talked him down in price. But, yes, it should be flyable if the can of freon that comes with it is full. Check the o-rings that are in the kit to make sure they're not dry rotted. Other than that, just follow the instructions and flip the bird to the tree huggers as you let her rip!
