My experience is similar.

I really liked the sheen; the stuff I used had one of the best gloss finishes I've seen right out of the can, but it does indeed take days (and days) for the enamel to cure to a hard finish. The more typical 48 hours between re-coats didn't really work for the product I was using.

I particularly liked the sheen of their metallic silver; very bright. But this stuff was very sensitive to re-coating; I had used this on a nose cone and sprayed a second coat after 48 hours and the stuff kind of just went all rubbery. I ended up sanding the nose down and re-sprayed with Rustoleum Chrome.

The photo below shows the model in question; the red is the Valspar red paint, and the nose is the re-sprayed Rustoleum Chrome.
