Hey Doug!
I'd love to see you put up a 5 engine Saturn V! Maybe by next July?
That's correct. It took 3 flights to get it right but on the 3rd try we got all 11 engines in 3 stages and there were NO electronics, all CHAD staged.
As the attached photos show I decided not to waste the time on the official paint job and I used permanent fins because I originally intended to test fly it as a complete Saturn V, then without the 1st stage, just the 2nd and 3rd, and finally just the third to prove it could be done. But I started on Red Squadron and never got back around to it.
I got a few negative comments about the fins not being clear plastic but I HATE those things; Aesthetically, I don't see a difference.
The first 3 photos are of Bad Girl fully assembled and prepped. The photo of the first 3 are from my progression from single D to 5 engine cluster and finally full stack.
The last photo is of Rocket Babe at a club night launch. The photos are from a 35mm Yashica SLR and were taken about 2005-2006 before we got a digital camera. To date, Rocket Babe has been flown 26 times. I'll probably fly her for the last time next July for the 50th.
