Well yes, Mark. That original Scrambler body is entirely fixable. For someone with your skills.
Me? I'd probably tear a hamstring trying to restore it.

One coat Rust-oleum American Accents 2X Ultra Cover Flat White primer. Sand.

Having given up on Rustoleum white (non-) spraying paint, I picked up some classic white Model Master from Hobby Lobby. Now to wait for the tropical system rain to pass...

Razzerfratz.

After having my last two cans of Rusto white craze like, well, crazy, I picked up some Model Master white from Hobby Lobby. Well, I tried it and it didn't craze, but left a million tiny bumps in the finish. Sand. Sand. Another coat of Model Master white. Same bumps. Same sanding.
Then I went back and grabbed the last can of Rusto that had crazed and, voila, a decent finish.

Thanks, Bob! I appreciate it.

One fin is now orange. Turns out the only orange I had is a pretty close match, other than the finish and gloss on the fin v. 30+ year old unsealed balsa. Still loving the vintage appearance of the payload bay.

The balsa adapter needs to be changed to white to be correct.
Looks like the nose cone needs a fresh coat of gloss red too.

That was the plan when I bid on it, complete with black over the balsa shoulders. But I really like the vintage look. I can just see the kid doing this probably in the '70s, and the yellowing tube adds, too.

I agree it's not correct, and any other time I would fix it, but I think this one stays.

The black fin has been finished. Now the question becomes do I use my last set of Sandman's beautiful Scrambler decals on this or save them for a possible future (better?) build?

Tough call! However, Tango Papa has them. His decals are amazing. It can be difficult to reach him, but he is still in business. He even advertises in Sport Rocketry. But he really does not do much alternative marketing, like Facebook, or even posting on the forums, that I’m aware of.

He did my upscaled Orbital Transport Decals. They sat for 10 years before I finally used them. I clearcoated them to be safe, and they worked fine and look great.

And voy lay! The decals are on, plus two coats faux Future. Since there are so many small fiddly decals on the sheet I used some smalls on this one that I did not on my clone (Eggscape Hatch, Pilot Eggs Benedict). Sandman's decals went on perfectly, as per usual.

And thanks, Lee. I looked at Stickerskock's site and am...intrigued.
