Default FSI Hercules clone

Parts arrived from Semroc last week and I spent a sick weekend blowing my nose and building rockets. First to be ready for paint is the FSI Hercules.

Screwed up here. I grabbed the cone for the FSI Intrepid for this photo. The mistake has since been corrected.

Fin attachment. Not to worry, this is the correct fin.

Pre-primer.

Artsy-fartsy shot in primer. I went to Hobby Lobby today for paint. I'm planning to do it in a V-2 camo pattern that I found in the archive.

Looks good Bill.

I had an original that I built and few with F100-8 motors in the late 80's. I never cloned it. It was always a great flyer and I regretted not modifying mine to use standard 29mm composite motors instead of the odd sized FSI F100's.

Your camo pattern should look pretty cool. Mine didn't come with decals and I just rushed finishing to fly it and painted it boring red with a black nose cone .....

I saw one at NARAM this past summer that was done in camo and liked the effect. I'd never seen one before and the simple lines made me think that it was just a scratch-build that someone had brought to fly. I was RSO at the time, so I got to safety check it and I was really shocked to find that it was a Hercules when I signed off on it. I think that one had a recovery issue. It either stripped or didn't fully deploy the chute and wound up hitting the roof of the shelter that we were operating under. Seems to me it broke a fin.
