All this talk about Vikings (elsewhere) got me looking the Viking 3 over again. I was hoping that the thrust ring would allow me to just go with another centering ring and make the whole thing 18mm powered. I tried to fit a motor tube, engine block and engine hook through the thrust ring to turn it into a forward ring, but the Kevlar that I'd tied to it kept the motor tube from fitting. Tonight I brought the Vike to work and sliced away the Kevlar. (Quite a trick considering the distance it was up in the tube and the tight space of a BT-50. ) I eventually succeeded, so when I get home this morning I'll be trying the dry fit again. If that works, it's on to paint.

While I prefer white glue for gluing in thrust rings, in a pinch yellow glue can be "persuaded" to not "grab" so quickly for such applications by sitting the bottle of it in a pan of warm water to make the glue less viscous.

I've already figured out that screaming loudly and cursing loudly make no difference in how crappy I still feel. Anyone have someone or something that needs to be dead?
Anyway, I'm going to be able to slide an 18mm tube into the ring and use another for the aft end, but I wanted to fly this bird on a D12-7. I am &$@%ing bummed!

I hate when that happens, last time it occurred I was able to "dig" it out, wrap some sandpaper around a dowel and clean things up enough to push in a loose fit ring. Always liked those FSI rockets.
