Default old estes kit

Estes used to make a kit that used no wadding, instead having a multi-sectioned motor tube with vent holes at alternating ends. I remember it having a balsa nose cone and fins, and sealing those parts with Pactra AeroGloss made it a heavy ship, that and the motor tube! Anyone remember the name of that kit, and how about a schematic so I can build another?

I believe that was the Bandit. You can find plans here:

Definitely the Astron Bandit.
The only other Estes rocket that did not use wadding that I'm aware of is the Astron Trident.

Actually, read what the OP stated again. His description describes it as being the Trident, IMHO.

Yep. Got to be the Trident. Gas holes at alternating ends? I'll swing away at the motor tube and parachute tube being connected with long tubes.

"Used no wadding... Multi-sectioned motor tube with vent holes at alternating ends..." is a very good description of the Bandit internal construction.

I think it was the Astron Bandit--definitely. Plus, I think the Bandit was also a payloader.

I suppose only the OP knows for sure. But a multi sectioned motor tube does sound like a Bandit.

Thank you all, it was indeed the Bandit, my second Estes kit sometime in 7th or 8th grade, c.1979-80. She flew quite slowly being so insanely heavy (thanks mostly to my zillion coats of homemade sealer and colored dope) allowing one to easily approach the pad and watch as the model continued to struggle for altitude. Cannot wait to bash together a replica.
