Default Pnc-50sp

continung with our nosecone threads, lol....

one thing I ordered from hobbylinc was a few Skywriter kits for kitbashing

( think Scorpion, Maverick, Satellite interceptor........... )

One thing I wanted to try upon recieving those, is to make up a substitute for the PNC-50SP as used on the Falcon Commander, Skytracer, etc

There is a pattern for adding the canopy posted on YORP under building tips ( Thanks .

Well, one thing I noted, prior to ordering the kits, is that due to the nose on the Skywriter being yellow molded, it is STYRENE, and not blow-molded polyethlene, abs or whatever the regular cones are.
meaning... a canopy made from .010 styrene as suggested ( and I had the .010 styrene around from my railroad modeling), could be cemented directly using solvent cement, no epoxies,ca or worrying if it will stick .

Proceeded to make up the canopy / nose with .010 styrene and Ambroid pro-weld as shown below.

will still need some putty, sanding ,etc , but should be a great cone for an upcoming clone ( my last used original cone as shown is destined for my partially built Skytracer clone, which uses Semroc SST nozzles,- thanks Carl * gotta do the plug, lol * - now thinking USS Fireflash, another neat design I always liked as a youth.

~ AL

ps: Scott, if you'd like to use any of the pics to add to Greg's canopy patterns, feel free to do so, or let me know if you need em set up differently, etc.

Default Thanks!

Wow, thanks Al!

I just picked up one of the kits, thinking of using the cone for a 'Black Brant III' revisit. I have not begun anything, so this may change my direction...

Default PNC-50SP Nose Cone

I have a bunch of the PNC-50SP nose cones (Venom, Argosy...many many more!) for sell or trade.

These are original cones, not resin replicas!

Just for the members here if you guys want them.

PM me if you are interested.

Note* These are NOT Interceptor nose cones! These are smaller (BT-50 size NOT BT-55) and the angle is different. ( 11 degrees I think)
