All the new plastic parts are produced by our vendor in China. I did the design work on this model as I have done on all but two Estes models in the past five years. The Capsule parts are produced from the original Centuri tools here is the USA. The tool needed a lot of repair to get it usable for kit production. As for how the kit process is done. When it comes to plastic parts. I design them in Cad, grow parts in our rapid prototype machine, make changes if needed, test fly a model with these parts and when I am satisfied I send the cad files to China to get tools cut. Of course others are involved in the kit concept itself and whether we think it will sale or not and the pricing for the kit is all figured out before we spend money on tooling. I receive first shot samples make changes if needed, get new samples and then sign off on them when I am satisfied with the parts. John Boren |

The fin and fin actuator housings are molded together. The fin assemblies are two pieces, a left and right, with the seam right down the middle. There are raised areas on the vacuum form wrap that the fins fit over so it would be next to impossible to get the fins on crooked unless of course you put your wrap on the tube wrong. The vacuum form wrap gets installed with 3M spray glue. ALL of the plastic parts were assembled and attached to the model with Tenax-7R since you don't get any big globs of glue that need to be cleaned away before it dries. The real trick to building this model is keeping your glue joints neat, what ever type of glue you use. John Boren Last edited by JumpJet : 10-02-2015 at 10:37 AM. |

John, I want to add my thanks...I am so excited about this kit coming out, and it exceeds expectations (i.e. not "just" a re-issue)...I don't know if you remember it, but we discussed this model at NARCON 2012 in Kansas...I was expressing my wish Estes would bring this back, and you had a twinkle in your eye, and swore me to secrecy...I thought Estes had decided to can the project, but I am so glad to see patience paid off!!!!

All I can say is WOWWWWWWWWWW !
They really do listen to us. May have to pre-order THREE or so from Tower. Two to build and one to sit for much later. Mine will feature the 29mm "Enerjet" upgrade mount Centuri used to offer. 750' seems WAYYYYY optimistic on a D12-3 though; maybe on an E15W
