Neither could I. Lots of loops straight into the ground...
Gave up after the second one I built failed miserably.

I got one to work fairly well, then I screwed it up with a coat of silver paint and it never flew quite as well again. I did some 1/2A6-2 and A8-3 flights on B6-4 Field, then tried a C6-3 flight at VOA and wound up with a broom recovery.

The oldest U.S. Rockets kit is 1980 or about 37 years.

Here are two thirds of a three rocket lot I picked up on ebay a couple of years or so ago. (The third is the light blue Big Bertha pictured in the Big Bertha collection thread.)
I got it at a decent price, chiefly targeting the vintage Scrambler payload section. The Big Bertha was a pleasant surprise, as it's flown ten times with only a shock cord and parachute replacement about halfway through that number. Even had vintage wadding installed on receipt.
The Scrambler was interesting. As you can see, the presumably young builder from way back set it up for D's using the putty method. Two engine holders to ensure retention. I originally was going to re-finish the payload bay as I've seen others do here, but now I think I'll just leave it as is. I've just completed building the body for it, standard three engine cluster, and will paint it white, orange and blue. Really can't wait to see this one go up.
The Constellation has not yet flown, as the fins were misaligned just enough to ground it for the time being.

Those are awesome. It's been a while since I've seen any that have made me bid. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Comrades:

I agree with Bill: pretty slim pickings lately on eBay for Rescues. I'm not interested in E2Z rockets or any packages that include a pad/controller. The other thing I've noticed is crazy high prices for a lot that includes a couple of recent 3FNs and a pad. Sorry, I'm not going to spend more on a rescue than I would spend to buy an unbuilt kit or the parts for a remake.

I've got a Rescue Arcas that just needs red paint and I'll post some pictures. . . .

Here's the new body for the rescue Scrambler payload. Maybe it's just me, but seeing a new Estes parachute attached to this payload for what might be the first time in 30-40 years is way cool.

I don't know Turk, that Scrambler original body looks fixable . . . .
