Default What makes you think gluing half a motor to the glass

would make any difference?

My money is on the very high probability (IMHO) that the motor case delaminated from the propellant grain during the saw cut. Doomed from the very start.

The "trick" I used to safely cut the motors was also intended to help keep the case and propellant bonded. Here's a photo that offers a clue to what I did:


But, I think you're correct. Even with the motor encased in a wood block, the propellant probably came lose from the tube when it was cut.

It's actually a composite of three videos plus a photo of the cutaway motor. I used a high-speed video of a Solar Igniter burning and parts of two "inside the motor" video attempts.
