Want alternative color scheme for SLS Arcas
Does anyone have any "alternative" paint schemes for the Semroc SLS ARCAS ?
I would really rather do something other than the usual White Body/Red Nose Cone & Stripe that is used for virtually all ARCAS builds....anything other than the red would be preferred by me. I find that scheme to be, in a word, BOOOORRRRRRRRRINNNNNNNNGGGGGG ! I have found virtually nothing during my websearch for actual paint schemes for the numerous ARCAS launches.

the common red and white scheme is the Atlantic Research Corp. display and advertising decor. you could paint it in the standard scheme which is aluminum paint from the payload section down including the fins. the payload section is bare aluminum and the nose cone is brown and there is a small brown band just below the spec plate. there was also a round flown with the same paint job I just described but with a black nose cone and no brown band. finally, you could go all white including the fins and payload section, brown nose cone, spec plate, and the same "ATLANTIC RESEARCH CORP ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA" and ARC logo that the IRIS has.

I couldn't find many alternative paint schemes out there either. I think there is a picture in a thread I started of the version Jay is describing, and there is also a Bio-Payload version that has an alternate color scheme but uses a different nose cone and is slightly longer. John Buscaglia sent me some info on that version. A few photos (mostly B&W) in this thread I started here: http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showthread.php?t=2017 I have since finished mine except for the paint I haven't had time to procure a custom turned No. 8 tangent ogive to finish mine to match the Bio-Space Payload version, but I did purchase all the additional Semroc parts to build the Bio-Space ARCAS. So mine sits fully assembled and unpainted, but ready to fly I will say that I really enjoyed the build and it's well worth what Semroc is asking for the kit when you consider the contents and quality of the parts, as well as the fact that it can be built to fly on anything from D to H power. It's a very unique kit. .
