This one scared me...a lot!

It was a SEMROC SLS Skyhook.
It spit it's motor at ejection and lawn darted about 4 feet behind Vern Estes!.

There was a clear payload section with a grasshopper in it...it was a "non survivable event".

Vern thought it was funny and he and Carl M. signed it.

What motor was in that SLS Sky Hook ? An E9 I'd venture to guess.
Great that Vern found it funny.

ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Not an E9, a D12-5 but I don't remember for sure which delay .

My fault really, I didn't double check the engine hook.

When I was a kid, I meticulously built (or so it seemed) an Estes Semi Scale Saturn V. Decided to put a plastic astronaut in the payload. A Buddy and I launched it from the back yard - C5-3. It wildly cork screwed its entire flight, and smashed into the metal roof of his house, slanted away from the road, precisely at ejection. It was non repairable. His mother came out screaming at us for shooting our shotguns so close to her house. The next day, while walking to school, we found the astronaut in the gutter on the opposite side of the street. He had to have been airborne for over 75 feet.
