I agree with George.

I don't come here to read political vitriol. There are a multitude of sites out there that cater to this. When I hit the "New Posts" button and I see (as I did 5 seconds ago) three headers about some intentionally provocative subject concerning the government, the FED, Chinese prostitutes... then I just want to tune out from this forum.

I just don't think that has a place here.

My opinion.

You know, a few weeks ago, over on TRF, there was a build-up of such a resistance to creating rocket boosted glider forum, that the moderators really dug in and said no, no, no.

Then, some of the glider people said, OK, we’ll go elsewhere.

The TRF mods realized what a mistake they’d made, and finally fixed things.

Does YORF have to learn that same lesson?

I see the same sort of thing building up here. Except the issue is not a glider forum, it is allowing a person to be a free-wheeling TROLL, and not listening to the fact there is a problem. Maybe the only way YORF’s moderators will learn is the way TRF’s learned, but by then it would be too late.

There is no practical way to avoid seeing the subject headers of those TROLL posts. There are so many sub-forums, it takes too long to go look thru every one of them one-by-one to “just” avoid dipping into the “Free for BULL****” forum (aka Free for All). So when I use “Today’s Posts” to find the most recent posts, all of the Troll’s recent message headers come up.

Given that, the only way I can “change the channel” to not see those, is to not bother to come to this forum in the first place. And if I am correctly reading between the lines of Chas’ messages, he is implying the same thing.

Or, what the heck, let’s just all start cussing and swearing and posting the porn links and links to the sickest stuff in the world, since anyone who does not like it can “change the channel”. I heard there is a video about somebody throwing an injured live puppy to an alligator, with the expected result....... makes about as much sense to post a link to that here in “Free for All” as many of the Troll’s posts.

Maybe that is what we need. Just stop posting about rockets and EVERBODY just post a bunch of BULL****, since that’s why this ROCKET forum is here, for non-rocket BULL****?

Just because some of you find his posts offensive doesnt mean everyone does. Opinions are just that .....Opinions, we all have one even if they they dont all agree. Trying to threaten "leaving YORF" over it is just as narrow minded IMHO. I'd rather lose a few of the self righteous one's than see YORF turn into another TRF.

I personally think this statement is making a mountain out of a mole hill George! I think most will see the difference in Lurker's posts versus internet Porn, cussing, throwing puppies to the gators, etc...

I think some people just dont want to hear opposing views for some reason

Am I a Troll just for not agreeing ?

I guess I'm right there with you then because I don't want to see more moderation here. Add him to your ignore list (I did) and then resist the temptation to open any threads he starts. It's really not that hard.

I also agree. It seems simple enough to ignore him/her. If this user started inserting this type of commentary strewn throughout lots of posts then I might feel differently. From what I've seen he/she is starting new threads in the Free For All.

I think I mentioned this on another thread, one that I was going to ignore and have now.....

When you call up the "new posts" or "today's post", you see the title of the thread and who started it. I for one, do not read every thread that's posted here (I know Scott....blasphemy ). I read the threads I'm interested in and ignore the others. Lately, with the exception of a post I made yesterday, I just ignore the threads started by "he who shall not be named because I'm ignoring him". I'm so much more relaxed and not nearly as irritated as I was before ignoring them.

There is nothing in the mouse to make your pointer point at or click on the thread other than your hand. You go there knowing the rant and speal being tossed about. If it irritates you and makes your blood boil, don't blame the poster for your actions (you point and click).

Just like TV ratings.........the more people tune in, the more likely a show will continue. If you don't like a show, stop watching it. If enough people stop watching, it gets canceled.

Now, with that said, if those types of post were posted in a build thread, that would upset me....even though I've hi-jacked a few threads myself......

Smile Ignore Feature?

I have quite a of you folks on my "Buddy" list and have also notice that there is an "Ignore" List that can be used as well. If I am not mistaken all post from the people you put on your "Ignore" list simple do not appear. Kinda like watching TV, if you don't like it, block that channel.

PS. I have not used the "Ignore" feature yet , but its nice to know it's there if needed.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work since the forum software still lists his threads after you ignore him.

Lurker is creating these threads simply to create controversy and excite emotions. He doesn't care if there is any truth to what he posts or not. He's not posting anything useful, entertaining, or interesting, he is just trolling.
