ARC Metroc (links)
Hello All,
Here are links (see: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en...0.0.PPovja7Vgqg ) on the Atlantic Research Corporation Metroc sounding rocket. This "Flightglobal" page (see: http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarch...20-%200183.html ) includes a photograph of the Metroc, and has the following brief description of it: "New Sounding Rocket Flight tests of Atlantic Research Corporation's Metroc sounding rocket were scheduled to begin last month at Wallops Island, Virginia, following a company development programme which included five successful static firings. Measuring 4 ft. 6 in. long and 3 in. in diameter, the new meteorological rocket incorporates a lightweight plastic case and has a total weight of only 18 lb. A thrust of 130 lb. is developed, sufficient to carry a 3 lb. payload to a height of 100,000ft. A standard ARC instrument package, released together with parachute at peak altitude, senses temperature, pressure and humidity, and a bag of radar chaff may also be carried and ejected to indicate wind direction. The Atlantic Research family of solid-propellant sounding rockets includes also Arcas, Archer and Iris."
