Here are some flight shots in Bend Oregon, I had to land in between the scrub brusha and the parked cars in 10-12mph wind. Photos by our president Gary Goncher of OROC

Nice Flight Pics!
I *love* it when a larger glider 'tacks' into a headwind, just enough to have near zero groundspeed, and sometimes even appear to hover or glide backwards!
Had a BT80 Bomarc do this at NEFAR launch back in 2011, video of that is on their site someplace. Hovered in the wind, like it was RC or something Im sure it looks funny but neat when that Interceptor model is doing likewise!! |

Yes, I had one flight on Sunday with a good headwind, it came in over the road at about 100' and just came straight down to a gentle hover landing.

And the winner, using a random number generator was Jsargevt, he can contact me and pick out the model of his choice!

Playing around with this design, Modifying the wing shape to not have as much crank, reducing length slightly, and reducing tail height to reach optimum CG. I'm not sure if there would be enough interest, I'd have to buy a bunch of the cosmic Interceptor kits to get free shipping and keep the per kit price down, for the tubes and cones.....I'm calling it the "Arc-Light" When the only option is to nuke em from orbit.....

Here is the kit prototype, flew it six times this morning, really nice flying, 38" long and 20" wingspan, will be limited production due to the fact I'm using Cosmic Interceptor closeout kits for the tubes and nose cone, once they aren't available I'll have to stop or just offer a conversion kit for your cosmic interceptor. I taped my micropeak altimeter to the model and got over 500' and just over a minute glide time. Really pretty in the air.

Here's some great video my daughter got today of the Arc-Light flying in pretty windy 9mph gusts, but it handled it like a champ.

I like the looks of that one. Very F-108ish.

It might be worth asking Estes if they have the cones available separately. Might save them the trouble of putting together a "parts elimination vehicle."

I'll ping them but I doubt that even if they could sell them separately, they could beat $17 for the cone, two tubes, a coupler and motor mount. I'm assuming they aren't making more of the cosmic kits, just trying to sell what they have, but ill check anyway.
