Default Mercury Redstone Scratch build Done

Hi All,
I'm a newbee to the forum and was asked to post.
I just finished my second scratch build. It's the Merc Redstone based on a BT80 tube. The capsule and escape rocket were turned by the Sandman. I made a jig to construct the tower and I used 1/16" carbon fiber rod for the towers construction.
The only plans I had were a sheet I found on-line with the dimensions of the actual rocket.
The model stands 35 5/8" tall. All the black on the rocket was painted, and yes, even the checker board pattern. All the decals,UNITED STATES and the flag, were made in Photoshop CS2.I plan on launching it with a Aerotech reloadable "E" engine, if I ever get the courage.
What do you think? Should I post my first build, a Pershing Missile?
Bob

NICE! I would like to see your other work. You have any closeups of the Mercury capsule?

Here's a close up of the capsule. I used thin strips of construction paper to outline the panels. They're twice as wide as they should be and there should be twice as many. I was getting carried away and had to stop myself before I carved in the louvers.
You can see some BalsaRite under the tower ring because the lower tower uprights were to low and hit the top of the nose.

You guys can click on my profile and go to my Webshots site to see build pics.

Hey, I'm new here. Should I post the Pershing here or start a new thread?

A new thread would probably be best.

Thumbs up

You did a beautiful job!

I like your idea for a jig for the escape tower. I have a Little Joe I that has been waiting for three years for an escape rocket because I haven't worked out a reasonable plan yet for building the tower. I wouldn't mind seeing more info on how you built it.

Great detail on the capsule!

Mark
