Default "BUY IT NOW" jollies

I stumbled upon this lot on Ebay the other night with a $10 Buy It Now price. I jumped on it pretty fast-like. Doesn't happen often, but working nights occasionally puts me in the right place at the right time.

First thing that caught my eye was the Estes Ranger payload section. It's in great shape. The nose cone could use some Fill & Finish, but I love the "patina" on the tube section. I'm thinking that a navy blue or black lower section would look good without giving away the fact that the two sections were built a generation or two apart.

This was the clincher for me. It's an Astron Constellation payload section. Also in pretty great shape. The idea of cloning two classics with original parts was too much for me to resist.

Also included in the package was an original Interceptor cone with pods. I have one flying that I cloned with Moldin' Oldies parts, but the idea of one with the original pieces is too cool.

Also included were various old-style Estes chutes, a handful of launch rod spacing springs, another PST-50S payload section that still has the new on it, eight other as-yet unidentified balsa nose cones, and a bag with a large amount of old Estes ignitors. All this came to my door for around $18. My wife wouldn't see the value here, but I don't plan to share it with her. You should feel honored.

Yeah, I think I have a Beta and Goblin cone in there, also. None of them smell like cat pee, so I didn't have to pay the premium price.
(Marking "Stinger" on my "To Clone" list.)

The BNC-20N might be good for a Pegasus clone and I've decided to use the BNC-55AO for my Viking 6 homage. Thought about a Bandit, in fact, I'm still thinking about it. I actually won one off of Ebay way back in 2002-03, but never received it because the guy's kids "destroyed it while tossing football". BULLSQUAT!!! I think he was just po'd because I was the only bidder and won it for $15. It was unpainted and just looked like a generic rocket.

Looking through Arley's nose cone pics has me wondering if a couple of these cones might be BNC-30 cones. The unpainted one looks like a BNC-30D. I'll need to compare some measurements when I get home in the morning.

That's a great catch, Bill! I remember years ago when I used to patrol eBay for hours on end waiting for Buy It Now steals to pop-up. I was able to get some pretty good buys that way.
