EPP foam/styrene glue?
Hello All,
I am seeking a glue recommendation: This week I received an R/C ARF (Almost Ready-To-Fly) C-17 model that I'd ordered (see: http://www.ebay.com/itm/C-17-Transp...AAOSwMQBZ6cK O ), whose parcel was gouged in transit. The model itself was undamaged, but the tube of glue that was supposed to be in the model's box fell out somewhere along the route (it was a one-part glue [not an epoxy], as the instructions show). The model is made of EPP (Expanded Poly-Propylene) foam (the airframe parts), with styrene detail parts, all of which are glued together with EPP foam/EPP foam and EPP foam/styrene glue joints. Also: What replacement glue would you all recommend for this application? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Jason,
Many years ago I built a kit whose main parts were EPP and used Goop. It was about the only thing that would stick to the polypropylene. I'm not sure how styrene parts would work with something like that. I'd expect one to have to be very sparing with it to not just melt the styrene bits into unrecognizable blobs.

Jason, check this out from Deluxe Materials Glue products from England. They have a glue for almost every application. I have seen their products in some hobby shops locally.

I thank you both for your suggestions! I have a second C-17 model en route (they're so inexpensive that I couldn't resist), and I'll check the color, consistency, and scent of the glue that comes with it, to see if I can match it to known types. While it's possible that it's some kind of CA glue, maybe a thick, gel type one (the instructions just call it "glue"; the photos show a plain white [with a metallic front end] toothpaste-type squeeze-tube, with no "fine nozzle tip"), my guess is that it's something like the Gorilla brand one-part polyurethane glue, or maybe the glue that one sometimes sees (in dried form) in stores, which "tack-bonds" metal cans of various products inside box packs.

Bob Smith Industries (the epoxy guys), sells a product called Foam Cure, for EPP and EPO. I’ve seen it at Hobby Lobby with their epoxies.

I’m not sure, I’ve never used it. I just saw it the other day at Hobby Lobby and your question got my attention. You might want to go out to the BSI website for help.
I think they have a support link if you cannot find the info you need.
