V-2 constant cylindrical section length
Hi all
Other than calculating a dimension from the various scale kit body tube lengths, does anybody have the accurate dimension of the cylinder from the base of nose cone to top of boat tail? The question refers to the prototype...not the kits. Thank You Moe Last edited by aeromoe : 07-15-2018 at 03:18 PM. |

Which scale? 1:24?

Doesnt matter the scale...I'm asking about the prototype dimension. I didn't realize that wasn't clear from my original question so I just modified the original post.

According to Peter Alway's most recent V-2 drawing (as presented in his monograph "The V-2 Modeler's Painting Guide"), the cylindrical section extends from STA 5295 at the base of the nose cone to STA 9596 at the tailcone joint.
That makes the total length of the cylindrical section 4301mm in length, or 169.33". This is a tricky dimension to locate, as most drawings of the V-2 do not indicate where the airframe begins to taper from a constant cylinder to the curve of the cone. James |

Thanks James...I don't think I've seen that reference before. Edit: I take that back. The drawing I have does have that Station Number but it does not have an arrow pointing to it to make it obvious this is the base of the nose cone/beginning of cylindrical section.

Thanks for pointing that out James.
