Default Quest Minotaur

I finished off a Quest Minotaur last night (just call me Theseus ).
I didn't do a build thread on it because it wasn't particularly challenging or technical.

The surprise I got was the "ROKITFLITE" on the decals.

Scott, did you design this, or this just a coincidence?

I have one sitting in the pile. Wow, yours is the first one I've seen built. What a beauty! Definitely one of Quest's better design efforts.

Clearly, I need to bring mine up closer to the surface...

Beautiful job, as usual, Jeff.

What color green did you choose?

They are peal and stick.

I have them in waterslide but because of copyright rules I don't have the listed on my web site.

Thank you all--it was a fun build!

Here's some assembly notes:

1) The faux SRB's are BT-20, so before I inserted the faux nozzle and disk assembly into the bottom of each one, I glued an 18mm thrust ring ring onto the top of each ring to give the adhesive more surface area in joining with the ID of the BT-20.
2) These peel and stick decals are FAR better than most. They're very thin and flexible and can be peeled and repositioned a few times without getting hosed.
3) The NC's of the faux SRB's are balsa. I don't know why.
4) The paints I used were: Rustoleum Gloss White and Rustoleum Moss Green. The instructions called for "teal", but I couldn't find a solvent-based teal that I could trust (I don't trust new formula Krylon.)
5) The white portions of the fins I did with Top Flite adhesive film wrapped over both sides--that way the trailing edge was also enrobed. The black check patterns are the kit's decals.
6) My photos show the model before being coated with future floor polish. Future can be applied over peel and stick decals SPARINGLY.
7) The faux SRB's are attached with epoxy.

Scott designed most of the Quest Advanced Rocketry product line (The Big Dog was designed by someone else).

I'm still waiting for the Eggsecutioner kit to be released (Love the decal).

Very nice...

I've liked the looks of this one for awhile... but it's a little pricey for my taste...

Might just clone the thing in Estes size tubes...

later! OL JR

You're right Jeff, it is an expensive kit. If it hadn't been for a Quest 40% off sale a couple of months ago I would never have bought it.

As for replicating it, let me know if you need any dimensions. The NC might be difficult though. It's similar to an upsized Exocet NC, but I think it's unique to Quest.

That looks great! Awesome job, as always. I really like that green. It's really unusual but it sure works good!

Thanks! I wanted to paint it in the teal color the instructions called for, but I couldn't find any in a reliable brand of rattle-can.
