That's very interesting.

Long ago in MI, I knew a nature photographer. I asked him if he'd ever been sprayed.
His reply: "Jeff, I've never met an empty skunk."

Indeed--even animals who get such a "malodorous mooning" seem to fully understand after just one experience, which leaves skunks with plenty of their chemical weaponry in reserve--both of our dogs got sprayed in the woods one night, but it happened only once!

As if a skunk needed a vegetable like cabbage (that has ONLY one reasonable legitimate use- cole slaw) to make them stink even worse.....a treat ?? WTH ? If someone gave me that crap I would see it as a PENALTY not fit for prison fare.

You don't even like saurkraut or corned beef and cabbage?

I like corned beef. But the cooked cabbage and sauerkraut are wastes of good cole slaw

Seriously, I don't know why- 'cause I like German cooking - but cooked cabbage, in any form, has always smelled awful to me. So I've steered clear of those popular dishes.

Mom used to cook pork chops in the oven in a baking pan filled with sauerkraut. I loved the chops, but always scraped off all the kraut

Sauerkraut is the most disgusting thing that has ever been attempted to be marketed as a foodstuff. Only thing worse than any form of Kim Chee is stinkin' rank swamp-butt kraut. I would rather chew on a stinky old moldy pair of sweat socks than let kraut within 5 feet of my face.
My heritage/family tree is about 80% German too.... their beer and speed limits are great...the food absolutely SUCKS.

Corned Beef is another disgusting abomination. One takes perfectly good ROAST Beef and RUINS it by putrefying it into Corned Beef.

Cooked Cabbage is disgusting as well.

I would sooner eat CANNED ALPO served in a SMOLDERING ASHTRAY than ever touch Sauerkraut, Corned Beef, or cooked Cabbage. I would not feed any of those to a rabid dog; those are not even fit for a PRISON food service program as ANY reasonable judge would rate them ALL as cruel and unusual punishment.

The most gawd-awful sandwich EVER devised is the putrefying mess known as a Reuben.
Kraut- Disgusting
Corned Beef- Hideous
Swiss Cheese- Only cheese more rank is limburger
Russian dressing- Awful
Rye Bread- Only thing on sandwich fit for human consumption.

The smell of Kraut and Corned Beef literally cause me to heave and want to projectile PEUKE !!!

So, should I surmise that you don't like kraut and/or cooked cabbage and corned beef?

ghrocketman, can you stop mincing words here. Why not let loose and tell us how you really feel. LOL

Actually, I agree with practically everything you said except for the Swiss cheese and the smoldering ashtray.

I will say as far as Reuben ingredients go, the Swiss cheese RANCIDITY is the least offensive of them other than the bread.
That I could CHOKE down if I had to, the other ingredients I could not and LITERALLY find them to be as offending in odor as an actual steaming pile of canine fecal matter.
I'm not joking...the REEK literally makes me retch.
Anyone that does not find Kraut to STINK, needs their olfactory (Snoot) sense re-tuned as it is WAY off.
Turning wonderful roast beef into the stinking putrefied mess known as 'corned' beef is flat out blasphemy.
Mustard coated Corn STALKS mixed with DRIFTWOOD sauteed in a V-8 OIL Pan probably have a higher nutrition value and lesser liklihood of tastebud damage.
