EV,

Noticed there is not a RockSim file for this one. Did you happen to work one up?

Thanks, Andrew!

I've made some adjustments to the file, based on the construction photos and EV's description of the build. The stability margin for this bird is about 2.13 on a B4-4, 2.15 on a B6-4, and 2.02 on a C6-5. This works out well given EV's description of the flight as being straighter than he anticipated.

EV, if you see anything in this file that doesn't match the prototype, shout!

Length: 19.77"
Diameter: 1.352" (BT-55)
Fin Span: 9.20"
Weight: 2.20 oz

Simulation runs shown below. All three listed engines work from a 36" x 1/8" rod.

Gee, thanks guys! I don't have RockSim, so I appreciate you pulling together these files.

Not to be nitpicky, but Craig, you did ask me to note anything that I see that's different from the real bird. I'm out of town for the week, so I'm working from memory here...

1 - Wingtip side missile rails are missing.
2 - Not sure if you noticed that main wings are 1/8" and the rest of the fins are 3/32" thick
3 - The rear horizontal stabilizers aren't that far aft. The rear tip of the fin is parallel with the end of the body tube, not the rear of the root edge. Overall is about 1/2" forward from where you have it now.
4 - Same thing on the lower vertical stabs. Extend the rear edge of the upper stab down to find the point. It's around 1/4" forward.
5 - I don't know the total mass, but I did happen to measure the PNC-55IR nose cone, and it's 15 grams. There's no additional clay weight inside.

EV

EV,

Thanks for the feedback. Andrew really did a bang-up job getting the RKT file worked up, so I more-or-less just used his file as a foundation. I'll tweak a new copy sometime tomorrow, after the Shuttle gets off, with these corrections.
