CANAROC Orion fin pattern?
Hello All,
Does anyone here have a fin pattern and know the body tube length & launch lug length for the CANAROC Orion (see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...c80/80can6.html )? Their nose cone for this tubing (0.752" in diameter, not too different from BT-20) was 2.75" long (the same as the Estes/Semroc BNC-20N and Estes PNC-20A nose cones), so cloning this model would be very easy. Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Neither of those (Orion IV or Orbitron) are it. The Orion (shown in the 1980 CANAROC catalog here, see: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...c80/80can6.html ) had three swept fins, a 0.752" diameter body tube, and a 2.75" long ogive nose cone similar to the Estes BNC-20N and PNC-20A. I don't think it was in production very long before CANAROC became--or was bought by--their successor (I think it was called SMI).

SMI was an attempt at the 'rebirth' of Canaroc in the early 1990s when rocketry was the 'hot' property with hobby distributors. SMI never went into production but motors were submitted and certified by NAR S&T. I did get a starter set from Taras T. but that was it. Bob |
