A magnetic personality.

I remember from NARAM 47 Chan's LJ II's capsule hit another pad on recovery and sustained damage points!

That just didn't seem right. You should get bonus points for hitting a launch pad.

We can call them "landing points".

The rest of the story ...

LJII action shots taken Saturday 17 July. Flight was on a G80T ... nice, straight boost and good deployment of both chutes. The booster came down in the grass with no significant damage, but the capsule managed to find a nice hard surface to land on (a Navy runway). Damage was relatively minor, fortunately -- nothing a little more Bondo and sandpaper won't fix.

What was the final weight of the rocket?.
Mine is completed however the launch countdown is on a medical hold. I had intended to fly it on Jul 31 , that will need to be postponed to probally end of august as I will not make any of the launces

Beautiful, Tim!

Sorry about the tower but it looks like a pretty simple repair.

I still haven't flown mine yet.

WHY? WHY? WHY? Why is it that no matter how much acreage of soft grass there is, a model rocket will STILL land on pavement?

BTW, beautiful LJII!

Tim,

VERY NICE PICS!!! Too bad on the landing of the capsule ... stupid concrete!

Reminds me of the days when Bay-Nar used to fly from the parking lot of De Anza College ... everything was taken home chipped and scrapped.

I am still working on my QTV ... only 9 days left ... paint really needs to dry faster .. dmit Gumby!

Any ways, I guess I can at least throw a picture up, so let me do that and show all what I have done so far ...

The capsule is almost done, just needs a tip. Screw sharpening the tip like a pencil as the instructions called for, I just had the nose cone of the LES custom made. Pics later next week.

I'm breaking my arse getting ready for NARAM 52. With work and everything else in life ... well ya'll already know that.

Jonathan

Outstanding work, Jonathan!

How did you do the fins? Are they vac-formed?

Greg,

Everything by hand ... I don't cast, vacuum, or vinyl. All built up with Bass, balsa wood, 1/32 ply, eye glass screws for hold down bolts, and spending a couple days laying down 1/30 scale rivet detail.

Thanks for the accolade!!!

I would hope that Gassoway would comment as I owe the detail to his scale data and he is the utmost expert in the model rocket community concerning Little Joe's. The master's opinion would be taken seriously!

Jonathan
