Question Semroc Saturn 1B

I've got a Semroc Saturn 1B on it's way to my doorstep.

For those that have built this rocket, what was your preference...cluster or single engine?

Thanks.

The cluster mount is more complicated to build - you have to cut slots in the tank tubes to allow the four motor tubes to fit into the middle of the group - but it is so much cooler! All that fire would certainly make the model look more realistic at launch.

After all, the Saturn 1b was nicknamed "Cluster's Last Stand".

So I vote for cluster.

I went with a Single 24mm (wish 29mm was an option) as a single RMS24 F24W or F39T reload has roughly 50-52 n-sec total impulse whereas 4 Estes C6-5's only equal 36 n-sec total impulse. A single SU E15 or E30 has more impulse than the cluster of BP C's.
Also reliability is much higher with only ONE engine to ignite.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Yea, sure but....there's only one flame!

What's the fun in that?

Never having to walk out to your smashed bird just to find that only 2 of the 3 motors lit?

Been there, done that... hated it!

You could always cluster Aerotech D24s for 74ns.
