Default MPC Martian Partrol

Finally, I scored. Took a chance on a misc lot of MPC kit parts on EBay. It was hard to tell what was included.

Ended up with:
1 complete Martian Patrol
2 extra saucers
1 complete Microsonde 3
1 complete Flat Cat
An extra pod for the Flat Cat
And some misc parts.

Martian Patrol boxes (2) are in rough shape, as is the Microsonde 3’s box. But I don’t care, I’m going to build them. I already have several versions of the Flat Cat and a built Microsonde, but there is always room for one more.

Getting close to a complete MPC collection (excluding the RTF ones. They just don’t hold any interest for me).

So that is who I was bidding against. Sorry to run it up on you, but you wanted it more than me. It looked interesting!

I still launch my Martian Patrol on occasion.
Here's video by Jimmy Yawn, scroll all the way down to the bottom:

Here's the build from finish to start:

The pic below shows a good CATO from a very old Quest C6-3 engine.
No damage to the rocket or saucers, it blew through the top clean.
Roger Smith got the picture.

Scrambled eggs!

I still have the Quest C6-3 you gave me that came from the same package of motors. Eventually I will try it in a disposable rocket with lots of cameras pointing at it.

Hmm. Looks like a classic Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator malfunction. It is often confused with the Uranium PU-36 Explosive Space Modulator, but there is a distinct difference in the color and shape of the deflagration.

I always stick with EEEEludium PEW-36 Explosive Spayce Moddyoolayytores.
They have a bigger bang.

I always though it was "Eludium" as it in "eludes detection"... sorta like "unobtanium" with cannot be obtained...
