Estes Goblin project
Here's a Goblin that I recently finished.

One of the greats. I already flew one to death and have a BT-70, 29mm one that I'm dying to fly. This would be an excellent choice for Estes to upscale.

Thats a nice looking Goblin ... I landed mine successfully in my "B6-4" size field on a D12-7 and a long streamer 6 or 7 times before my luck finally ran out.

Tell me about it.
Luckily I had a tree-climber with me that day. Pretty sure this was our last launch at this particular field. It was quite a bit bigger than B6-4 Field, almost as close, and on a much lighter traffic road. Unfortunately they built a high school baseball field on it and it's not as flight friendly anymore.

A really nice build on that Goblin. I hope mine comes out as well as yours did.
Just a question, to anyone really: The "3" on the fin is laying down on it's back in the original Estes instructions (am I correct there?). I've seen folks have it upright and others have it on it's back. What is considered "proper or original?"

Well, you have a choice of three ways. I went with the look from the 1972 catalog when the Goblin was first introduced. Then there's the look from the retail kit instructions. And third, there's the picture on the front of the bonus kit instructions.

Ok, it's time for me to 'fess up. This Goblin isn't real. It's a 3-D model I created while I'm learning how to do computer graphics. It started out with me just trying to model the nose cone from the pictures in the catalogs and kit face cards, which has a distinctively different profile than the BNC-55AO nose cone that came with the kits. When I had the nose cone done, I decided to go ahead and do the entire rocket for practice.
I guess the forum members that suspected that it's really a CG model are too nice to call me out on it. Thanks for indulging me, guys. If anyone has any comments on what they think would make it look more realistic, please let me know. I have a few more things to do to it that should make it look better. Thanks.

I was wondering how you did the hanging in air, unsupported, photography...

Hm. I thought it was a nice build and you were good with clipping masks in Photoshop.
