Looks like fun. Also looks like the fire bans are being lifted so the club launches that have been canceled for the past two month can start up again.

Great launch report as usual. Too bad about the Hornet. Could you use an 8" parachute instead of the streamer?

Hey, MoJo,

Thanks for reading my ramblings.

I agree with you about maybe switching to a small parachute for the Hornet. After all, this bird is slated for 69 more flights before getting retired permanently. Can't allow it to get too much more beat up!

I have an old Estes 8" (or a 12" with a spill hole) checkerboard around here somewhere that I could send you.

Thanks for the kind offer, but I still have a few old vintage 70s chutes still hanging around, one of them was still folded up in flight prep readiness (along with recovery wadding) inside my old Delta II / Astrocam for a 1983 launch that never happened!

Your post about flying in Denver caught my attention, since club launches have been cancelled due to the fire bans. I live in Fort Collins, but remember attending soccer games at Dove Valley back in the 90s when our youngest was playing soccer. We now have large soccer fields north of town on I-25, but I hesitate to inquire about using them. This town is not very rocket friendly.

I too started building rockets in the 60s. Even toured Estes Industries in 1966. Met Vern and crew, it was an incredible experience.

Here is our order being filled at that visit:

LTV,
That is really cool that you got to tour Estes while Vern was still in charge. I didn't make it down there until around 1974. At that time, Vern may have still been in a consultant role, but he wasn't there when I visited. I did later get to meet and interact over the next several years with Dane Boles and Bob Cannon.

Wish I had been involved in model rocketry earlier....

Cool pic!
