STUDY SUMMARY: First Lunar Outpost Part 3, 4, and 5
Here's a continuation of the presentations made at the technical issues conference relating to the First Lunar Outpost (FLO) proposals as part of the Space Exploration Initiative in mid 1992. These studies specifically relate to the DC-X Delta Clipper, which NASA had "inherited from the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization (SDIO), Reagan's "Star Wars" defense project which by that point was on life support or gone, but it's shadow lingers on... There's also information about the RTG's that were being used or planned for the near future. Also there is some interesting information about the nuclear thermal rocket (NTR) propulsion proposals and developments, including an assessment of the old Jackass Flats (Nevada) NERVA rocket engine test site.
Later! OL J R
