Default NO more body tubes

To ALL our customer's as of 10/17/17 we will NO LONGER be selling Body tubes, the normal 18" variety.

After that date PLEASE see Roger at Jonrocket.com for your 18" Body tube needs.

We have been getting heavily into 3D printing making figures for miniature gaming. We need the space for the new 3D printers coming in Dec/Jan.

The current 4 printers we have are working to death and we need to expand.

We will still carry couplers/Motor mounts and the other things we have carried in the past.
But the Body tubes will not be available.

Please consider Jonrocket for your future tubes needs. We have been wholesaling them tubes for years.

TO be clear we are NOT going out of business just dropping a part line we have no more roon for.

Thank you

What about the BT-20 Tough Tubes? Do you still have any of those or will another vendor have them available?

Just made my last tube purchase, love those multi tube deals. Too bad they won't be around anymore.

They look like the old Estes couplers — tough black paper. I think it’s called fishpaper?

I bought a bunch a few years ago. I don’t do that many 18mm scratch-builds, but they make great motor tubes.

from umrs

"These are 18" body tubes, exactly the same
specs as any normal BT20 tube.

The difference is they are made of body tube
coupler material so they are extremely
strong and rugged.

All BT-20 type parts nose cones, motor
mounts, etc will fit."

Hmmmmm. That material sucks. Failed attempt.

If they were at fire sale price I would store them and find a way to use them. But I would never reorder them.

I've had terrific results with these as motor tubes. I'll go ahead and order some.

And I've had terrific results with these as gas containment/direction tubes, mounted in front of D motors (they fit into the centering ring/engine block nicely) to better direct the booster blow-through upward to the next nozzle when gap staging. The way I look at it, anything that improves reliability can't be bad.

My theory: The smaller BT20 "tough tube" keeps the hot gas contained in a smaller volume, does not let it expand and cool off as much, and points the hot gas straight at the nozzle and not all over the interstage area. The tough tubes stand up well to the abuse of hot-gas-straight-from-the-combustion-chamber.
