I wouldn't use filler at all. Egglofting is generally not a drag-limited event. An authentic build would not show a high degree of finish.

I’m not too concerned about drag, as I won’t be entering this one in any competition.
I just wanted to clean it up a bit. I’ll also need to cut out at least 1 new fin to go through- the-wall as there’ll be little flat surface to glue the fin to.

Oh OK.... Maybe then roll a truncated cone out of paper that slides over and covers the crumply-looking part. If you still want to use a filler, use epoxy and enough microballoons to make a paste. The epoxy will stick the styrene very well.

I realize that the damaged egg capsule lower portion has a slight hyperbola to it, but rather than repairing it would it be possible to wrap it with a cardstock cone? It works great for the transitions of the Saturn kits.

I'm sure the math exists to draw the pattern.

I'd like to finish this to celebrate the 35th anniversary of starting the build: what can I use as a filler that will adhere to the styrene but not cause any more damage? Would Bondo work? Seems like Squadren Green/White would be too strong...
Suggestions?

Thank you all for your suggestions and insight.
I went with HobbyPoxy Lite Filler, which worked pretty well. After the first application and sanding, it's little 'coarse', leaving poc-marks, so I think for the second coat I'll thin it with water with the hope that it will dry and sand with a smoother finish. More pics to follow.

I think you meant "Hobbico" lite filler, not "Hobby Poxy" .
The "Hobby Poxy" product is a two-part epoxy based filler that has not been available in hobby stores for over 20 years. I have some that I use. Incidentally, the Hobby Poxy product is still available in marine stores under the "Pettit Paint" label.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

You’re right- I had a bit of a flashback there. You can see the tub in the last
