New Estes Hornet (#3037) Build
After a long absence from rocketry, I got back into the hobby while I was looking for something to keep my modeling skills sharp, but did not want to dedicate the time required for plastic modeling.
I am new to the forum and wanted to post photos of the new Estes Hornet that I am working on. After painting it yellow, I decided that I already had too many yellow rockets and wanted to do something a bit different I present…..the GREEN HORNET!

Welcome to the forum. Great job on the Hornet and nice looking fleet too! Only problem I see is there aren't enough of them. We'll help you cure that "problem"!

Thanks....what the photos don't show are the 10 kits in various stages of construction, OR the 30+ kits waiting!

As I clicked on the thumbnail, I expected to see a John Deere emblem pop up on the full res picture.
Nice looking birds.

Very clever and a little inside.
I didn't get the Green Hornet reference at first. Nice work!

That "green hornet" paint scheme has convinced me I MUST pick one of these kits up !
What were the exact paints and colors you used to finish this one ?

Looks GREAT!!! How did you get the yellow "Hornet" decal? I was wondering if you painted it because it seems to match the yellow paint perfectly!!!

I’m afraid I’m not going to be much help on the paint and decal info, and I appreciate the kind words, but here goes….
The paint is DuPont Chromabase, and the colors are Spectramaster YS907K (yellow) and GS249 (green). The Decals match because I used the yellow paint to silkscreen the art onto clear decal film.

I was worried that it might be Automotive based the moment I saw your scheme.
Looks like I'm going to have to custom mix some to match from my supply of Aero Gloss Dope.
