It is based on the old Kuhn style tube cutter.
North Coast Rocketry sells a Kuhn style cutter.
Chris,

I use my Odd'l Rockets "Cutter" regularly.

But how on earth did you cut the ultra-skinny slot for the razor blade?

Inquiring minds want to know. (Okay, kidding. It's just me.)

I used an ultra skinny razor saw -

One tip on using the Cutter tool -
Angle the razor blade down so just the very tip corner cuts the tube, not the flat of the blade.
When using just the corner tip you'll hear a scratching sound of the blade against the tube.

I'm still using one of the original prototypes to cut every tube used in the Odd'l kits.

I built a Kuhn Cutter a few years ago. One thing that really helps get a nice smooth, square cut, is to insert a piece of coupler into the tube, to support the tube at the cut point. On some tubes, the tube can deform under pressure from the razor blade. The coupler really helps.

It seems most couplers now fit quite tightly into body tubes. To make it easier to insert, I peel off enough paper to insure an easier insertion. Putting a tight coupler midway in a body tube for a cut can be almost impossible!

Default I guess I never looked that closely at this kit---

Does anyone have any details on how the canopy transparency was done for this kit? Did the nosecone come pre-molded that way?

I believe the clear canopy part is vacuum formed.

That's an affirmative. Here's a blog post Chris did while the F-16 was in pre production:
