USS Atlantis Nose Cone Wanted
I am looking for a PNC-50X (or part no. 71010) for cloning a USS Atlantis. I know I can get a balsa one from BMS, but I'm looking for the plastic.
Thank you.

Hmm. I might or might not have one. I'll check my piles when I return home later this week.

OK, I'm back home now.
THIS is the closest I have to a PNC 50X, but I don't think it's the same. It appears to be a little pointyer. The visible length is 3.3" the overall length is 4.125". You're still welcome to it if you want it. If so, PM your address to me. Jeff

I think I'll pass for now Jeff, thanks. It does look a bit pointier. I may have to go to the BMS balsa equivalent.
It is a shame that Estes doesn't note part no's. (that I could easily find) for the nose cones in their assortment packs, let alone sell individual cones.

Quote:
If they don't have this plastic nose cone, they could borrow one (and return it afterward) from a model rocketeer who has one, so that they could create an RTV rubber mold and "secondary master parts" from the nose cone (the RTV rubber doesn't harm plastic nose cones). They could also create an RTV rubber mold from a sanded-and-sealed balsa version of this (or any) nose cone.

I got a balsa variant from BMS for a previous Atlantis I built, I believe, it could have been Sem-Roc. I don't recall, it was a few years ago and the grief of seeing the not yet fully completed ship drift off on the breeze at a MTMA launch took a while to overcome. It was in silver primer and I just couldn't wait to get it off the ground.
This time I was hoping to make it more original with the plastic nose cone if I could find one. I guess they're more rare than I thought.
