FOUND: Estes Tornado (2004) Fin Scans w/ruler
I'm trying to sim up the Tornado (2004).... again.... (!@#$% HD crash )
Ok... JimZ has the instructions http://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/est2004.htm, an image of the decals (not a direct scan), and a drawing of the fins. I trust scans of things like fins much more than drawings (unless they're engineering drawings). Also, JimZ site makes no note of the fin's dimensions, including the thickness (likely 3/32"). Here's where I was before the HD crash. (I've got a working backup drive now). http://cdn.rocketryforum.com/attach...55&d=1465010961 Thanks! Jim.

I have the Twister, which was the same kit with a new name and paint scheme. Already been built though. Do you just need some measurements of the fins to scale the JimZ scan?

Wasn't familiar with the Twister (1449). JimZ and plans.rocketshoppe.com both lack the instructions for that one as well. It has that paint scheme that screams to me "Peel and Stick" decals, plastic fin unit. I never gave it a 2nd glance. I'll gladly take the measurements. Thanks!

JumpJet came through for me... I don't need the fin measurements anymore.
However, I could use the length of the Launch Lug now. Merry Christmas!

Here's a redeux of a file lost in the HD crash (I know back up, back up, back up...) The Estes Tornado (2004)
For those that don't know, this (and the Twister variant that was also produced) is a maple seed recovery type rocket. I can't wait to build one. Thanks to John Boren for the help with the fins and Chris Michaels for the LL info.

It is a good flyer, but I have mostly flown my Twister on 1/2A6-2s or an A8-5 if I am flying from a large enough field. I would hate to chase both parts on a B motor filght.

I'm glad you found the data you were looking for. I didn't have time to dig out the Twister until now. You are right about it having stickers instead of decals, but otherwise it has balsa fins and uses traditional construction techniques just like the Tornado. The suggested paint scheme was all black, but I thought that was kind of dull. I used the pink and orange colors on the stickers as inspiration and came up with something a little more interesting. By the way, the lug is 1.25 inches long.
