These will all be filletted with epoxy for strength as will the (18) fiber sub fins.

Boy you sure like using epoxy. I almost never use it on model rockets including the Pro Series models. I use nothing but carpenters glue for all my paper to paper and wood to paper glue joints and fillets.

But you keep doing what you are comfortable using. You may need to bump up the power a bit it your finished weights gets a little high.

Actually, I've changed my mind about using epoxy for the fillets of the fiber parts. Because of the close spacing of the fiber part arrays, it's difficult to get a good fillet "wipe", so I'm using plain white glue for the (54) fillets for the fiber parts. The runniness of the white glue is making it seep into the joint on it's own and I'm finding that a "wipe" isn't necessary. TBC

Exactly! You should try one! It's a tuffie, but it's a good skills test.

This thread needs to be bookmarked. If I ever try this build I'm going to print all this stuff out and make myself a little guide.

Yes, I like using epoxy. I expect rockets to last until the next ice age (or until lost/wrecked, whichever comes first.) For wood-to-paper and paper-to-paper attachments I use carpenter's glue. I use epoxy mostly for fillets. TBC

We may be the only ones who still use the original formula Titebond.

It only proves once again: great minds think alike.

The white glue fillets on the BSV's sub fins are now dry. I've sorted the large and small fin portions into (3) sets determined by closeness of the central joint. This photo shows my best match--which isn't very good. To correct the offset, I'll "bias" sand the compound base of only one of the halves of each set. I'll probably adjust the long half because through the extrapolation of the length it should require less sanding. After the correction is made I may have to adjust the angle of the central joint to make them mate. We'll see. TBC

Yes, that is a lot of offset there. The lower portions should line up much better.
