SEMROC is on AT&T, which occasionally goes down. It should be back up soon.

Do you do your own website work? I assume so. Have you thought about hosting it at a dedicated hosting company? I've been using slicehost.com for a couple of years now and I really like their customer service and hosting plans. The only downtime I've experienced has been my fault.

Must be a localized thing. I've had Bellsouth (AT&T) here in Mobile since Katrina (2005) without too many issues. Only outright down-time I can recall was during storms when we lost power in the vicinity, so it was something shared by all.

Granted, I've heard horror stories about AT&T from other parts of the SE, but never experienced it here. Maybe I'm just not having the problems when I'm using it. If I had a server, it might be another matter.

Time to look it may be into an out-sourced server...

A computer client of mine used XL-Internet for a few years with generally good service and low prices. Something like $113 per year, including a domain name. Don't know if their prices/service quality are same today (or even if they're still active), but they 'did the trick' for my client when he needed to make a change.

Also check you might with Comrade Hanson and company for pricing...

This was simpler than that, but a real loooooooong story.

We did host offsite in the beginning, but when thay started backing everything up on Friday night and restoring on Sunday night, we started losing orders placed over the weekend because they backed up the database as well. Sometimes they would do a random backup and restore to sections during the week. They could not figure out how to fix the problem.

Since we cannot do anything without being online anyway, we keep the servers here. At least if the internet is down, we can still reach our database to update orders, add parts, print invoices, etc. If we had the site hosted somewhere else we would lose that ability.
